The St. Paul City Council is considering a new ordinance that would outlaw base jumping in the city Base jumping is classified as jumping from buildings or bridges with a parachute. One man FIVE EYEWITNESS NEWS spoke to has base jumped more than 75 times in the last year.
Dave Juntenen says he lands safely, but last time he base jumped, he landed in jail. "A well planned thought out jump like the Foshay took a month to plan," said Juntenen. Now the city of St. Paul could make base jumping a midsemeanor offense. The City Attorney's Office requested the law be created to make it easier to prosecute base jumpers.
