Skiers who try snowboarding & vice versa

Posted in : Snowboarding

(added few years ago!)

For you long-time skiers what was your experience like when you tried snowboarding? Did you stick with it much? Who alternates regularly between both and why? Who normally boards and tried skiing?

I've been skiing since the '60s. I tried snowboarding once for a half day in 1995. That was enough I spent most of the time on my back and never stayed upright for more than 100 yrds at a time. I did it goofy foot, but never determined if that was correct for me. I was in my early 40s at the time and tried it on a free demo day just for the experience. But realistically it didn't seem like the pain, humiliation, and learing curve was worth wasting any of my precious ski days.
