Spring Skiing Or Summer Fun On Memorial Day Weekend

Spring Skiing Or Summer Fun On Memorial Day WeekendThere's still time for a few spring turns before we look at the summer season. Going strong are Arapahoe Basin, Colorado, Mammoth Mountain in California, Timberline and Mt Bachelor in Oregon.

In Utah, Snowbird has announced it is re-opening this weekend as is Kirkwood, California, and Crystal Mountain, Washington. For all the northeasterners who can't get enough Stratton Mountain is pushing snow around for the second Annual Stratton Mountain Mayhem jam on Memorial Day.

Up in Canada, Whistler/Blackcomb is going for a while longer before a short break and then skiing on the glacier starts up for a summer session. If you are in a more summer frame of mind some of our favorite resorts that open for a summer season of fun and events are starting off the season with a great Memorial Day schedule.

Park City Mountain Resort, in Park City, Utah kicks off its popular summer season on Friday, running the Alpine Slides, Alpine Coaster, ZipRider and offering lift-served hiking and biking. Other resorts, like Heavenly, in California are opening for a Memorial Day preview of all the summer fun to follow.

Be sure to check your favorite resort either to ski if you can, or enjoy the summer activities, festivals, concerts and events, or just to get out for some mountain biking or hiking. If you never hiked on an Intermediate trail in the summer it's really an eye opener -  steeper than you would have imagined.
