Desperate tweets lead to jet skier's body

The body of 17-year-old Emirati student Abdulla Salah Al Amiri who drowned after a water skiing accident off Palm Jumeirah on Saturday The tragedy struck when Abdullah and his 15 friends all from Al Ittihad Private School in Dubai were out skiing off Mina Seyahi. They were on a ski board tied to a boat driven by one of his friends.

The friends began a frantic search but it yielded no result. They then took to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to seek help in rescuing their friend. And more than 70 deep-sea divers responded to their call, while the Dubai Police rescue team continued their operations.

Abdullah's body was found floating near Palm Jumeirah at about 8.40am after a 36-hour search operation.  Abdulla, who was not wearing a life jacket, was thrown from a ring and disappeared beneath the surface. He resurfaced but was hit on the head by one of the jet skis, driven by his Lebanese friend and he drowned.. The friends are being questioned by police.
